Bachelor of Music - Elementary Specialization

If your passion is teaching elementary music, you belong in the Texas A&M University-Commerce accredited elementary music program. The degree includes a combination of coursework in elementary music education, university studies, music core studies (such as theory and history), technology, and professional education.

Our elementary track provides instruction through an active, experiential approach in a joyful atmosphere. Highly qualified faculty provide a rigorous education that will lead you to the top of your profession, and small class sizes promote individual attention.

Students have many opportunities to teach as part of their coursework. We have established a Learning Partnership with area school districts which allows our students to “adopt” an elementary class for an entire semester. Other opportunities for our students to work specifically for and with children include our children’s opera performances, our touring company, and private lessons through our Academy. 

TAMUC Music Education students support each other in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competition.  Together, students grow as artists to become leaders in their profession.  Alumni enjoy a lifelong support system—once you are a TAMUC student you have mentors and friends for life.
